?tude Op. 10, No. 3, in E major, is a study for solo piano composed by Fr?d?ric Chopin in 1832. It was first published in 1833 in France, Germany, and England as the third piece of his ?tudes Op. 10. This is a slow cantabile study for polyphonic and legato playing. Chopin himself believed the melody to be his most beautiful one. It became famous through numerous popular arrangements. Although this ?tude is sometimes identified by the names "Tristesse" or "Farewell ," neither is a name given by Chopin. (Wikipedia)

He grew up in Warsaw, which after 1815 became part of Congress Poland, and there completed his musical education and composed many of his works before leaving Poland, aged 20, less than a month before the outbreak of the November 1830 Uprising.
